Dragons Abreast Australia is a thriving network of paddling breast cancer survivor groups across Australia, helping and empowering groups to grow and promote physical and mental wellness in their membership.

Many tears are shed over a cancer diagnosis – cancer robs us of many things, our energy, our appearance, our confidence. Once a survivor has had surgery, chemo and radiation, breast cancer survivors need hope; they need to connect to those who understand, the lived experience they need to be physically active at whichever level, doing any exercise helps; they need to tread a new life by learning something new; they need peace through mindfulness; and they can give and help other survivors. Then the tears will be of happiness, as they power down many rivers and waterways of the world.

Every day, 55 Australians will hear those dreaded words of a cancer diagnosis (source: National Breast Cancer Foundation). Our plan is to reach out to as many as possible to invite them out on the water and provide them with proof that after treatment, that there is a positive quality of life ahead through sport of dragon boat racing.

Dragons Abreast Float the Boat is a sub-fund of Australian Communities Foundation, which is a public charitable foundation. All donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
